Ingredients
- 2 Cup rolled oats - 2 cups
- 2 Cup whole milk - 2 cups
- 2 Cup water - 2 cups
- 1.5 Cup blueberries - 1 1/2 cups, Some fruit is reserved for topping.
- 2 Count bananas - 2 medium, Sliced into thin rounds; some fruit is reserved for topping.
- 1 Teaspoon ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- 2 Tablespoon pure maple syrup - 2 tablespoons
- 1 Teaspoon vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- 0.25 Teaspoon fine salt - 1/4 teaspoon
Instructions
Prepare the fruit
1. *Rinse the blueberries* and *slice the bananas* into thin rounds; set aside some fruit for topping.
Start the oatmeal
2. In a medium saucepan, combine *water, whole milk, rolled oats, cinnamon, and salt* and bring to a *gentle simmer* over medium heat.
Cook until creamy
3. Cook for *5 to 7 minutes*, stirring often, until the oats are *creamy and tender*.
Sweeten and warm the fruit
4. Stir in *maple syrup, vanilla extract, half the blueberries, and half the bananas*; cook for *1 to 2 minutes* until the fruit is warmed through.
Rest and serve
5. Remove from heat and let the oatmeal *stand for 2 minutes* to thicken, then serve topped with the *remaining blueberries and banana slices*.
