- 1 Teaspoon garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- 0.5 Teaspoon kosher salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- 1 Tablespoon neutral cooking oil - 1 tablespoon
- 4 Count cheddar cheese slices - 4 count (4 ounces), 4 ounces total
- 4 Count hamburger buns - 4 count
- 1 Count tomato - 1 medium (sliced), 1 medium tomato, sliced for burger topping
- 0.25 Cup mayonnaise - 1/4 cup
- 0.25 Cup ketchup - 1/4 cup
Instructions
Prep vegetables and beans
1. *Rinse and drain the black beans*, finely dice the onion, and *slice the tomato* before starting the patties.
Mix the patty mixture
2. In a mixing bowl, mash the black beans with a fork until *mostly mashed with some texture*, then mix in the panko, egg, onion, garlic powder, and salt until *the mixture holds together*.
Shape patties
3. Divide the mixture into 4 portions and *shape into patties* about 1/2 inch thick, pressing firmly so they are *compact and even*.
Cook first side
