Instructions
Bring water to a boil
1. Add the *water* and *salt* to a medium saucepan and *bring to a boil* over medium-high heat.
Add oats and reduce heat
2. Stir in the *steel-cut oats*, then reduce the heat to low to keep a *gentle simmer*.
Cook until creamy
3. Cook for *25 to 30 minutes*, stirring every few minutes, until the porridge is *thick and creamy* and the oats are tender.
Stand and serve
4. Remove from the heat and let the porridge *stand for 5 minutes* to finish thickening before *serving warm*.
