Cook this recipe
- frozen strawberries-1 1/2 cups
- frozen blueberries-1 cup
- ripe banana-1 each
- plain Greek yogurt-3/4 cup
- granola-1/2 cup
- fresh sliced strawberries-1/2 cup
- fresh blueberries-1/4 cup
- whole milk-2 tablespoons
- honey-1 tablespoon
- chia seeds-2 teaspoons
- vanilla extract-1/2 teaspoon
Slice the fresh strawberries and slice half of the banana for topping; keep the remaining banana half for the smoothie base.
Use a stable cutting board and keep fingers clear of the knife while slicing the fruit.
Add the frozen strawberries, frozen blueberries, remaining banana half, Greek yogurt, milk, honey, and vanilla to the blender.
Blend on low, then increase speed while stopping to scrape down the sides as needed, until the mixture is thick, smooth, and spoonable, about 45 to 90 seconds.
Turn the blender off before scraping, and keep fingers clear of the blades by using the spatula only when the blender is stopped.
Do not overfill the blender because thick frozen fruit mixtures can expand slightly while blending.
If the blender struggles, add 1 teaspoon milk at a time and blend briefly; keep the base thicker than a drinkable smoothie.
Divide the smoothie base between bowls and smooth the tops with a spoon so the toppings sit visibly on the surface.
Top each bowl with granola, chia seeds, sliced banana, sliced strawberries, and fresh blueberries. Serve immediately while cold and thick.
