Cook this recipe
- Ripe pears-2 cups
- Plain Greek yogurt-0.75 cups
- Whole milk-0.75 cups
- Pure maple syrup-1 tablespoon
- Fresh ginger-0.5 teaspoons
- Vanilla extract-0.25 teaspoons
- Ground cinnamon-0.13 teaspoons
Wash your hands and use clean equipment. Rinse the pears and ginger under running water and dry them. Cut away any bruised areas from the pears, then peel, core, and chop them. Measure 2 cups. Peel and finely grate 1/2 teaspoon ginger.
Pour the chilled milk into the blender, then add the yogurt, pears, maple syrup, ginger, and vanilla.
Use pasteurized milk and yogurt, and keep them refrigerated until needed.
Secure the lid and blend on low speed for 10 seconds, then on high speed for 45–60 seconds, until creamy and smooth. If pieces cling to the sides, stop the blender, scrape them down with the spatula, replace the lid, and blend again. The finished smoothie should be thick but pour easily.
Keep the lid secured while blending and stop the blender before scraping the sides.
Divide between two glasses. Sprinkle the full 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon evenly over both servings and serve immediately while cold.
Refrigerate leftovers in a sealed container at 40°F or below within 2 hours, or within 1 hour if the temperature is above 90°F.
